Set an Intention, Establish Your Goals and Focus on Taking Action

I'm sure that I'm not the only one that struggles with Focus am I? As I've moved from the world of being an employee after 25 years to now being self employed, I've struggled greatly with ability to set clear goals and objectives, identify boundaries for work vs personal time, and focusing on the task at hand without getting distracted, overwhelmed and stressed. Does that sound familiar to you?

I've been on a personal journey to learn more deeply about myself, how I learn and work best, and what brings me joy. I've learned that being a people pleaser and over thinker all my life hasn't left much room for what makes me happy and fulfills me. It absolutely takes work to look inside yourself and discover those important things in life that bring you joy and fulfillment. I certainly don't have all the answers yet, but I'm definitely on the road to discovering them with the help of some fantastic people.

As I write this blog post, I'm actually sitting on an airplane headed to Phoenix for a mastermind event with my business coach Nick Unsworth along with many other entrepreneurs who are on a similar journey as me. Many of them are much further along in their business than me, so it's great to mastermind with others that can encourage me for the road ahead.

Life on Fire Mastermind friends who also attended Michael Bernoff's Core Strength Experience Event.

After my mastermind event, I'll be spending a few amazing days with another very important person to me, my mindset and personal development coach, Michael Bernoff. Even though I didn't get much rest last night, I find myself in the middle seat of an empty row and I want to make the best use of this peaceful quiet time to set my Intention and Goals for the week ahead. I've realized that I set unrealistic expectations and create a lot of stress and disappointment in myself along the way.

This week I will:

  • Relax, be fully present and focused, and not worry about what's going on at home in our BBQ business.
  • Pay Attention to what is said, don't over think it, and don't take too many notes and miss what I'm supposed to hear!
  • Focus on deeply connecting with at least 3 people

Really looking forward to an amazing week with a great group of entrepreneurs and learning more about myself. Hope you guys find value in me sharing about my journey along the way.  I plan to share more of the resources I'm using as well, so look for another post in the coming days as I explore my key takeaways from the events I attend this week/weekend.

Blessings to you and yours,
